Snow Is Expected In The Berkshires & Hills Of Western & Central Mass Late Tonight/Early Tue Morning

For This Afternoon: Lots of sunshine can be expected for this afternoon with temperatures near 55 Degrees. Winds this afternoon will be east at 10 to 20 mph. Tonight & Tuesday Morning: A strong low pressure system is expected to track from the Mid-Atlantic coastline this evening to across far western Mass and eastern New York State by Tuesday morning. The forecast track of this storm system is further west than what I was forecasting yesterday. Because of this, it appears that accumulating snow will be limited to the western Hilltowns of Western Mass and the Berkshires. Elsewhere across the area, rain, heavy at times, is expected from about midnight tonight until about sunrise Tuesday morning. With that said, I still have concerns that with the heavy rate of precipitation late tonight could cause the atmosphere to dynamically cool leading to the rain to change to wet snow at times with slushy light accumulations possible as far east as the northern and western Worcester Hills. This is something that will need to be watched closely. As I mentioned yesterday, this is not an easy forecast at all. Here Is My Forecast For Tonight & Tuesday Morning: For The Berkshires & The Western Hilltowns Of Western Mass (West Of Route 5): Snow is expected to begin around midnight tonight and continue throughout the rest of the night tonight. Snow will come to an end around sunrise Tuesday morning. Snow amounts are expected to range from 1 to 3 inches in the Western Hilltowns of Western Mass to 3 to 5 inches of snow in the Berkshires. For The Eastern Hilltowns Of Western Mass & The Worcester Hills: A snow-rain mix is expected to begin around midnight tonight with rain, heavy at times after midnight tonight. This rain will probably flip to snow at times, especially when the precipitation falls at a heavy rate after midnight tonight. All precipitation will come to an end around sunrise Tuesday morning. Snowfall amounts of a slushy dusting to up to one inch looks likely. For The Pioneer Valley, The I-84 Corridor & The Blackstone Valley: Rain will begin around midnight tonight and then continue during the after midnight hours of tonight. The rain is expected to fall at a heavy rate at times after midnight tonight. Rain is expected to come to an end around sunrise Tuesday morning. For The Rest Of The Day Tuesday: Cloudy skies are expected the rest of the morning on Tuesday once the precipitation ends around sunrise Tuesday morning. Skies will then become partly sunny during Tuesday afternoon. It will be windy throughout the day on Tuesday with east winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph during the morning and west winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph during the afternoon. High temperatures Tuesday will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Wednesday Through Friday: Wednesday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures near 55 Degrees. Thursday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 60 Degrees. Friday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees. Weekend Weather: Saturday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees. A frontal system is expected to move into the area for Sunday bringing some scattered shower activity. High temperatures Sunday will be near 60 Degrees.
