Precipitation mostly in the form of rain will first overspread Western Mass between 3 pm and 5 pm and then overspread Central Mass between 5 pm and 7 pm.
While most areas should start out as rain, it's possible that precipitation will start out as snow and sleet across the Berkshires, the Hilltowns of Western Mass and across the Worcester Hills. Areas in the northern Worcester Hills and the Berkshires may stay as snow for a few hours this evening before changing to all rain by midnight. This means that 1 to 2 inches of snow accumulation is possible in the northern Worcester Hills and the Berkshires this evening.
A heavy wind-swept rain and the chance for a rumble or two of thunder is then expected from about midnight tonight until about 4-5 am Sunday morning.
Rain then comes to an end everywhere by about 7-8 am Sunday morning.
Rainfall totals tonight will average between 1 and 2 inches with most of that rain occurring between midnight and 5 am. This means that ponding of water on roads and highways is likely late tonight. In addition, poor drainage and urban flooding can be expected. Finally, minor flooding of rivers, streams, creeks and other low-lying areas is likely.
Temperatures the rest of this afternoon will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Temperatures tonight will rise from near 35 Degrees this evening to near 45 Degrees by after midnight.
It will get increasingly more windy as we get into tonight. Winds the rest of this afternoon will be Southeast at 10 to 20 mph. Winds tonight will be Southeast at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph before midnight and Southeast at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph after midnight.
Sunday looks to be a cloudy and windy day. High temperatures will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Winds will be West at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 35 mph.
Sunday Night looks generally cloudy with low temperatures near 30 Degrees. Winds will be West at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.
A look towards Monday reveals that there will be partly sunny skies with some quite windy conditions. High temperatures will be near 40 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-50 mph.
