Hot Weather Through Friday With Showers & Thunderstorms Expected Friday Afternoon & Friday Night

For The Rest Of This Afternoon: An area of high pressure will continue to control the weather the rest of this afternoon. This means that lots of sunshine can be expected throughout the rest of this afternoon. Temperatures will be in the 85 to 90 Degree range. Winds will be East at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy skies are expected tonight with low temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees. Winds will be South at 5 to 10 mph. Friday: Another hot day is expected on Friday with high temperatures between 90 and 95 Degrees. In addition to the heat, it’ll feel a bit humid on Friday as well. The big weather story for Friday will be the threat for afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A robust cold front is expected to push southward into Southern New England during the afternoon on Friday. This cold front will interact with the hot, humid and unstable air to produce quite a few thunderstorms that look to be a threat beginning between about 12 pm and 2 pm and continuing through both the mid and late afternoon hours and the evening hours. Main threat from thunderstorms will be locally heavy rainfall and lightning. That said, a couple of the thunderstorms could be on the strong side with up to 40-50 mph wind gusts possible. Friday Night: Thunderstorms with the cold front should continue into Friday evening before subsiding by about 9-10 pm. Scattered showers are then expected to persist through the rest of the night on Friday night. Low temperatures will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 10 to 20 mph. Saturday: A downright chilly, raw and wet day is expected on Saturday with temperatures in the 50 to 55 Degree range and Northeast winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. In terms of rain on Saturday, it appears that rain will occur throughout the morning on Saturday and it may be heavy at times. The rain looks to come to an end for a while by early afternoon, but it will remain cloudy and chilly with areas of drizzle throughout the early and mid-afternoon hours on Saturday. Another round of rain may overspread the entire area by late Saturday afternoon. Saturday Night: Fairly widespread showers are expected throughout Saturday night with low temperatures between 45 and 50 Degrees. Sunday: We will be stuck under a chilly and raw northeast wind flow during Sunday. This means that temperatures on Sunday will only be near 55 Degrees. Widespread showers are expected throughout the day on Sunday making it a potential total washout.
