Heavy Rain & Quite Windy Conditions Expected Mon Afternoon & Evening Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon: An area of high pressure located to the south of New England will provide plenty of sunshine this afternoon across Western and Central Mass. High temperatures will be between 50 and 55 Degrees with a light southwest wind. Tonight: That high pressure system will push off of the East Coast of the United States tonight. Skies are expected to be clear this evening with an increase in clouds expected after midnight tonight. Low temperatures tonight will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Monday & Monday Night: An area of low pressure is expected to strengthen as it heads northward across Pennsylvania and New York State during Monday afternoon and Monday night. This will lead to rain overspreading Western and Central Mass by early Monday afternoon. The rain will become heavy at times by late Monday afternoon with heavy rain continuing through Monday evening. In addition, the atmosphere is likely to be unstable enough for some embedded thunderstorms to move through during the 4 pm to 8 pm time frame. A soaking rainfall with widespread 1 to 2 inches of rain can be expected. Some localized rainfall amounts of up to 3 inches is certainly possible with this storm. This means that localized street flooding looks quite possible during Monday afternoon and Monday evening, which will impact the late Monday afternoon and Monday evening rush hour. In addition to the heavy rain threat, windy conditions still look likely during Monday afternoon and Monday evening. It is expected that south to southeast winds will gust up to 40 to 50 mph at times during Monday afternoon and especially during Monday evening. The bulk of the rain is expected to end by midnight Monday night, however, some lingering showers will continue right into Tuesday morning across the entire area. High temperatures Monday will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Low temperatures Monday night will be near 50 Degrees. Tuesday: An upper level low pressure system is expected to be situated across the eastern Ohio Valley on Tuesday. This will keep us cloudy and I expect to see some fairly widespread rain showers around throughout the day Tuesday. Temperatures on Tuesday will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. Wednesday & Thursday: Wednesday is expected to feature a mixture of sun and clouds with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. Thursday is expected to be a sunny to partly sunny day with high temperatures near 45 Degrees. Friday Through Saturday: An area of low pressure is forecast to form to the southeast of Long Island on Friday evening and then head towards Nova Scotia by Saturday morning. This storm is expected to bring another round of rain to the area during Friday afternoon and Friday evening with lingering rain showers lasting into Saturday. High temperatures Friday will be near 50 Degrees. Low temperatures Friday night will be near 40 Degrees. High temperatures Saturday will be between 45 and 50 Degrees.
