For The Rest of This Afternoon: A cold and windy afternoon is expected across the entire area under partly sunny skies. Temperatures will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Winds will be West at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph.
Tonight & Saturday: Partly cloudy skies are expected throughout tonight with low temperatures near 20 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph.
Saturday is expected to be partly sunny during the morning with skies becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph in the morning and becoming Southwest at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.
Around One Inch Of Snow Accumulation Is Expected Late Saturday Night Into Early Sunday Morning: A frontal system is expected to push through the region during the predawn hours of Sunday morning. While most of the energy, moisture and dynamics with this front will pass just to our north across northern New England, some of this moisture is expected to pass through our area leading to some light snow to occur from the after midnight hours of Saturday night into part of Sunday morning.
Light snow looks to overspread the entire area just after midnight on Saturday night. This light snow is then expected to continue through sunrise Sunday morning before coming to an end by mid-morning Sunday.
Snow amounts across the entire area look to average around one inch or so.
Low temperatures Saturday night will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Late Sunday Morning Through Sunday Afternoon: Once that light snow ends by mid-morning Sunday, skies will become a mixture of sunshine and clouds by late morning. A mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds can then be expected throughout Sunday afternoon.
High temperatures Sunday will be near 40 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 8 to 16 mph.
Next Week’s Weather: There are some signals in the weather forecast guidance that suggest milder temperatures should overspread the area during next week. That said, the weather guidance has also rolled back the amount of mild air for next week as compared to what it was showing even a couple of days ago. Any additional cooling of the temperatures for next week is something that’ll need to be watched closely as it could mean more potential issues in the way of ice or snow.
An area of low pressure is expected to track near Southern New England during Monday night bringing with it a swath of precipitation to the entire area. I do think that we’re going to have to watch the temperature profiles with this storm as colder air might be tough to erode out of the area. Weather forecast guidance seems to have trended from an all rain event to something that’s more wintry (snow and ice) throughout Monday night into Tuesday.
For now, I’m thinking that we’ll see the possibility of snow and sleet to start with on Monday night that changes to freezing drizzle and light freezing rain during Tuesday morning before it ends by Tuesday afternoon. Given the possibility that some snow and ice could occur during Monday night and Tuesday morning leading to travel impacts it is a weather system that I’m watching closely.
The other weather system that I’m going to be watching for next week is a rather strong frontal system that’ll impact our weather during Wednesday and Wednesday night. At this point, the temperatures should be mild enough to support all rain with this system. This means that rain can be expected all day Wednesday right through Wednesday night. It should be pointed that the rain might end as some snow early Thursday morning as colder air moves in on the backside of this front.
