For The Rest Of This Afternoon: A cold front now located over far western Mass is expected to move through the rest of the area this afternoon bringing with it some scattered rain shower activity from time to time. Temperatures early this afternoon will be between 50 and 55 Degrees, but will fall through the 40s during the mid and late afternoon hours. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Tonight & Saturday: Skies tonight are expected to be cloudy and there could be the possibility of a few freezing rain showers very late tonight across Central parts of Mass and especially near and east of I-190 and near and east of I-395. Low temperatures tonight will be near 30 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. A cloudy day is expected on Saturday across the entire area. High temperatures will be near 35 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday & Monday: An area of low pressure is expected to strengthen significantly as it tracks to the northeast and passes fairly far east of the Cape by late Sunday night and Monday. It’s expected though that this storm system will probably come close enough for accumulating snow to make it as far west as the Cape and eastern and southeastern Mass. The question is still how far west will the shield of snow push into Central Mass. Some of the weather forecast guidance shows any snow remaining over the Cape while other guidance shows the snow backing as far west as all of Central Mass and even as far west as the I-91 corridor. At this point, I think that any snow during the day on Sunday may get as far west as far eastern parts of Worcester County with a period of light snow possible across a large part of Central Mass late Sunday night and Monday morning. Any snow amounts between Sunday morning and Monday morning should be very light with most areas of Central Mass seeing perhaps a dusting of snow. Eastern parts of Worcester County may see amounts of around one inch in total. High temperatures Sunday will be near 35 Degrees. Low temperatures Sunday night will be near 25 Degrees. High temperatures Monday will be near 35 Degrees. Tuesday & Wednesday: A frontal system is expected to pass through the region by Tuesday night and Wednesday. This means that the period from Tuesday through Wednesday will be generally cloudy. In addition, there may be some scattered rain shower activity from late Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. High temperatures Tuesday will be near 45 Degrees. Low temperatures Tuesday night will be near 35 Degrees. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 45 and 50 Degrees.
