A Few Showers & Thunderstorms Possible Through Early This Afternoon With More Isolated Thunderstorms Possible Between 5 pm & 9 pm Today Across Western & Central Mass

A few showers and thunderstorms will be a threat over the next couple of hours or so across the area. A majority of the activity should occur north of the Mass Pike and the main threat from any thunderstorms will be heavy downpours and some lightning.
Once these showers and thunderstorms move away early this afternoon, we'll see whether the atmosphere "recovers" or not as it'll be important in determining whether we'll see more thunderstorms very late this afternoon and this evening.
Most of the data that I'm looking at suggests that a majority of the thunderstorm activity this afternoon and this evening will occur across northern Vermont, northern New Hampshire and western and northern Maine and the storms up there are likely to be severe with strong wind gusts, torrential downpours, frequent lightning and even a couple of tornadoes. If you are or know of someone that is in the northern Green Mountains of Vermont, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the mountains of Western Maine or the Allagash of Northern Maine, please let them know that severe weather is going to be a threat this afternoon and this evening.
Anyways back to our weather for late this afternoon and this evening - I do think that a couple of isolated thunderstorms will probably be a threat between about 5 pm and 9 pm today. Any thunderstorm that is able to form will be capable of producing 50-60 mph wind gusts, torrential downpours and frequent lightning. So, this is something that'll be watched closely.
It's going to continue to feel downright tropical this afternoon with dew point temperatures around 75 Degrees and temperatures of 85 to 90 Degrees.
