10:30 pm Sunday Evening Weather Update For Western & Central Mass

Monday is looking like a pretty disgusting day in terms of weather across the entire area. This is due to snow during the morning & scattered snow showers during the afternoon.

Rain is expected to continue for the next few hours before it changes to snow by between 4 am and 6 am Monday morning. The snow is then expected to continue for a while during Monday morning, especially across areas around the Mass Pike and as far north as the Worcester Metro. The snow is expected to come an end by about 9-10 am or so Monday morning.

It should be noted that areas around the northern Worcester Hills and the Route 2 corridor may only see a brief period of snow between 4 am and 7 am Monday morning before it ends.

Snow amounts during Monday morning look to average from a dusting across the northern Worcester Hills to around 1 to perhaps as much as 2 inches of snow accumulation for areas from the Worcester Metro southward to across areas around the Mass Pike. A majority of this snow is likely to accumulate on grassy and other non-pavement surfaces. I do think that roads and other paved surfaces should be mainly wet. That being said, some slushy conditions are possible between about 4 am and 7 am when the snow might come down at a fairly moderate intensity.

As we get into Monday afternoon, it appears that scattered snow showers will occur across the entire area as a trough of low pressure swings through. Snow amounts of up to one inch is a possibility in areas that do see snow shower activity during Monday afternoon.

Temperatures during the day on Monday will only be in the low to middle 30s. Winds will be North at 7 to 14 mph.
