For This Afternoon: Scattered showers can be expected this afternoon as a piece of upper level energy combined with some very cold air aloft. This will lead to an unstable atmosphere across the entire area causing the formation of hit or miss showers this afternoon. It should be noted that some of the heavier showers could produce small hail or even a rumble or two of thunder. Temperatures this afternoon will be around 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Tonight & Tuesday: Any leftover showers will come to an end this evening with mainly dry weather expected from later tonight through Tuesday. Skies tonight will be cloudy with low temperatures near 45 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday looks like there will be a mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout the day. There could be a very isolated shower or two during the afternoon, but a majority of the area will be dry. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday Through Friday: Drier weather looks to move into the area for Wednesday and Thursday with lots of sunshine expected both days. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. High temperatures Thursday will be near 65 Degrees. Turning to Friday, a frontal system is expected to head eastward while a coastal low pressure system takes shape near the southeastern coast of the United States. This all means that there will be an increase in clouds during the day on Friday. In addition, some showers may move in by late in the day. High temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Weekend Weather Forecast: The combination of that frontal system pushing across the area and a strengthening low pressure system that looks to track to near the Cape by late Saturday means that a washout looks quite possible for at least the first half of the weekend. Saturday looks possibly wet with rain all day long and that rain could be heavy at times. High temperatures will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. As that low pressure system pulls away towards Maine, it has the potential to strengthen rapidly. This means that Sunday could be quite windy, along with a mixture of sunshine and clouds and some scattered afternoon showers. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees.

For Tonight: An area of high pressure positioned over the region will lead to light winds and clear to partly cloudy skies. This should lead to temperatures to bottom out at between 37 and 41 Degrees. Saturday & Saturday Night: An area of low pressure is expected to develop near the Virginia and North Carolina coast late Saturday and then head east-northeastward well south of New England on Saturday night. The track of this low pressure system is such that any rain with this storm will remain to our south and it looks very likely we’ll stay dry this weekend. Skies Saturday morning will start out sunny to partly sunny with cloudy skies expected during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Cloudy skies are expected on Saturday night with low temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday: That low pressure system will head out into the open Atlantic during Sunday. Cloudy skies Sunday morning will give way to increasing sunshine during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be North at 8 to 16 mph. Next Week’s Weather Forecast: The first half of next week looks cloudy and somewhat unsettled as a northeasterly wind flow is in place across the region. Monday looks cloudy with high temperatures between 55 and 60 Degrees. Tuesday looks cloudy and there may be a few passing showers around. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Some partial sunshine may return during Wednesday. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Better weather looks to return for later next week as high pressure builds into the area. Thursday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures near 60 Degrees. Next Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.

For Tonight: Cloudy skies this evening will give way to partly cloudy skies late tonight. Low temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday: Sunny to partly sunny skies in the morning should give way to a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph. Friday: A northwest wind flow will lead to a slightly cooler day on Friday under sunny to partly sunny skies. High temperatures will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph. This Weekend: There’s hope that we could end up with dry weather this weekend across the entire area. While there is still likely to be the formation of a coastal storm near the Mid-Atlantic coast on Saturday and Saturday night, it is looking increasingly more possible that this storm will track nearly due east and remain far enough south not to be a concern in terms of rain. That said, this is not set in stone and this storm could still track just close enough to the area to give parts of the area some rain on Saturday night and Sunday. For now, it looks like Saturday should be cloudy with any rain holding off until evening. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. For Saturday night, I think that we’ll see periods of light rain across the entire area. Low temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Sunday looks cloudy with some periods of light rain from time to time. High temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Given the more southerly track of that coastal storm, it appears that rain totals may range from as little as one tenth of an inch (0.10”) to one quarter of an inch (0.25”) along the Route 2 corridor to around one half of an inch (0.50”) of rainfall across areas near and especially south of the Mass Pike. Now if that coastal storm’s track continues to trend further south, it would mean less rain and the potential for a dry weekend across most areas. On the other hand though, should this coastal storm’s track trend back to the north, it would mean much more rain across the area. For me, I’m definitely hoping for an out to sea track and no rain at all this weekend.
