Widespread Showers Expected This Afternoon & This Evening Across Western & Central Mass (Posted Midday Wednesday 5/6/2026)

For This Afternoon & Tonight: A slow moving cold front is expected to push its way across the area during this afternoon and this evening. That front will be located to our east by Thursday morning.

Widespread showers now entering far Western Mass will overspread the remaining parts of Western and Central Mass over the next couple of hours & there should be widespread showers everywhere by 2-3 pm.

Widespread showers will then continue across the entire area through late this afternoon and this evening. These showers will become much more isolated in coverage by after midnight tonight.

All-in-all, it appears that rainfall totals this afternoon and this evening will average between one quarter of an inch (0.25”) and one half of an inch (0.50”).

Temperatures this afternoon will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. Low temperatures tonight will be near 45 Degrees.

Winds this afternoon will be Southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Winds tonight will be West to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Thursday: Morning clouds will give way to partly sunny skies during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Friday: A mixture of sunshine and clouds can be expected throughout the day on Friday. High temperatures will be near 60 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph.

This Weekend: A weak area of low pressure is expected to push through the area during the day on Saturday. This will lead to some rain to occur during Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. High temperatures Saturday will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Turning to Sunday, it is expected that skies will be partly sunny all day long. High temperatures will be near 70 Degrees.

Finally – It should be pointed out that yet another low pressure system is expected to travel northeastward from the lower Ohio Valley into the northeastern US by Sunday night and Monday. What this means for our weather is that rain is a very real possibility throughout Sunday night and Monday.
