Widespread Showers & A Couple Of Thunderstorms On Friday Will Give Way To A Chilly & Windy Saturday Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon & Tonight: An area of high pressure will control the weather throughout this afternoon into tonight.

This means that lots of sunshine can be expected throughout this afternoon. Temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Winds will be North to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Skies are expected to start out clear this evening, but will become cloudy by after midnight tonight. Low temperatures will be between 40 and 45 Degrees. Winds will be South at around 10 mph.

Friday: An area of low pressure and its associated frontal system will push its way across New England during the day on Friday. This weather system will bring with it quite a bit in the way of shower activity throughout the day on Friday. In addition, a couple of thunderstorms are possible during Friday evening as a strong cold front moves through.

It still appears as though there will be two rounds of showers during the day on Friday.

The first round of widespread showers will occur during Friday morning as a warm front pushes through the area. So, I think that we’ll see widespread showers begin across the entire area around sunrise Friday morning. These widespread showers will then continue throughout the morning on Friday before they come to an end around midday or so.

A break in the shower activity is then expected for much of Friday afternoon. Temperatures during Friday afternoon will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.

A strong cold front is expected to move through the area during Friday evening. This means that a second round of widespread showers and possibly a couple of thunderstorms will occur between about 5-6 pm and 9-10 pm.

Rainfall totals during the day on Friday from the two round of showers looks to average up to one half of an inch (0.50”).

Finally, there will be a gusty southerly wind of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph all day Friday.

This Weekend: A quite chilly and windy Saturday continues to look likely across all of Western and Central Mass. Skies are expected to start out cloudy during Saturday morning, but will become partly sunny during the afternoon. High temperatures will be around 45 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Wind chill temperatures on Saturday will be in the 30s all day long.

Saturday night looks clear and a widespread hard freeze is expected across the entire area. Low temperatures will be between 25 and 30 Degrees.

Sunday looks sunny with high temperatures between 50 and 55 Degrees. It wont be quite as windy on Sunday with northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph expected.

Monday Through Next Thursday: A stretch of nice weather can be expected next week as a big high pressure system controls the weather.

Monday looks sunny with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.

Tuesday looks sunny with high temperatures between 60 and 65 Degrees.

Wednesday looks sunny with high temperatures between 55 and 60 Degrees.

Next Thursday looks sunny with high temperatures near 55 Degrees.
