A Second Round Of Widespread Showers & Thunderstorms Are Expected This Evening Across Western & Central Mass & A Couple Of The Thunderstorms May Be On The Strong To Severe Side
For The Rest Of Today Into Tonight: Weather analysis as of the time of this post reveals that an area of low pressure is currently located over southern Ontario and far northern New York State.
A warm front associated with this low pressure system is currently making its way across our area right now. This means that widespread showers with heavy rain at times will continue to impact all of Western and Central Mass over the next few hours. This round of widespread showers will come to an end by between 9 and 10 am across Western Mass. These showers will then end across Central Mass by between 10 am and 11 am this morning across Central Mass.
A break in the shower activity is then expected to occur across the entire area from late this morning through pretty much all of this afternoon. This means that generally cloudy skies can be expected from late this morning through this afternoon. It is possible that an isolated shower or two could occur this afternoon, but most areas will stay dry.
A strong cold front is expected to move through the area during this evening. This strong cold front will bring with it another round of widespread showers and a few thunderstorms between about 6 pm and 9 pm this evening. Given the strength of this cold front, it is possible that a couple of the thunderstorms could be on the strong to even severe side & be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph and torrential downpours.
As it stands right now, a line of heavy showers and a few thunderstorms will first affect Western Mass between 6 pm and 8 pm. This line of heavy showers and thunderstorms will then affect Central Mass between about 7 pm and 9 pm this evening. Again, a couple of the thunderstorms may be on the strong to severe side & be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph and torrential downpours.
Once the showers and thunderstorms end this evening, we will be left with cloudy skies throughout the rest of tonight.
High temperatures this afternoon will be near 65 Degrees. Low temperatures tonight will be near 40 Degrees. Winds throughout the rest of today will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph. Winds tonight will be West to Northwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
This Weekend: A quite chilly and windy Saturday is expected across all of Western and Central Mass. Skies are expected to start out cloudy during Saturday morning, but will be partly sunny during the afternoon. High temperatures will be around 45 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 15 to 20 mph with gusts to 30-40 mph. Wind chill temperatures on Saturday will be in the 30s all day long.
Saturday night looks clear and a widespread hard freeze is expected across the entire area. Low temperatures will be around 25 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northwest at around 10 mph.
Sunday looks sunny with high temperatures between 50 and 55 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at around 10 mph.
