The Weather Turns Quiet Through This Weekend; An Active Weather Pattern Looks Possible Next Week Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: A secondary frontal system is expected to push through the area during tonight. This front is expected to bring a few scattered snow showers to the area between about 11 pm and 2 am. Any scattered snow showers may produce a quick dusting to perhaps up to one-half of an inch of snow accumulation.

Low temperatures will be around 25 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 15 mph before midnight and West at 10 to 15 mph after midnight.

Thursday Through Friday: It appears that a low pressure system tracking from the Ohio Valley will pass well south of our area during Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. Because of this, we will more than likely miss out on any snow from it.

Thursday looks partly sunny during the morning with a mixture of sunshine and clouds expected during the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be West at 6 to 12 mph.

Thursday night looks clear to partly cloudy with low temperatures between 15 and 20 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at around 10 mph.

Friday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at around 10 mph.

This Weekend: No significant weather problems are expected throughout this weekend.

Saturday looks partly sunny with high temperatures around 45 Degrees.

A cold front is expected to push through the area during Saturday night bringing with it some scattered snow showers. Low temperatures will be around 25 Degrees.

Sunday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.

Turning To Next Week: The weather pattern next week continues to look cold, wintry and active as there’s the possibility of two storms to closely watch – one around Monday afternoon and Monday night and a second storm possibly affecting the area around next Wednesday.

The first storm system that we’re going to have to watch is forecast to track northeastward from the Ohio Valley. Weather forecast guidance are not in good agreement, which is normal for a 5 day forecast, on where this storm might track & how it might affect our area.

Some of the weather forecast guidance show this low pressure system tracking well south of our area, which would lead to no snow at all. Other weather forecast guidance show this low pressure system tracking right across our area, which would lead to several inches of snow occurring sometime from Monday afternoon through Tuesday.

At this point, I’m leaning towards the idea of a close enough track of the first low pressure system to bring some snow to the area during Monday afternoon and Monday night. Snow amounts of perhaps 2 to 4 inches could occur.

The second storm system that will need to be watch is expected to follow closely behind the first. This second storm system might affect the area during the day next Wednesday. How this second storm affects our area will be highly dependent on its track. One thing that I’ve noticed in the data is that this second storm might end up being a “warmer” system & thus it might bring a mixture of snow, ice and even some rain to the area during next Wednesday.

There’s not much else to say about this second storm system except that it could be messy in terms of snow, ice and even some rain next Wednesday.
