11:30 pm Wednesday Night Weather Update For Western & Central Mass

Radar imagery at the time of this post indicates that thunderstorms have entered far Western Mass and are moving to the east at a forward speed of about 40 mph or so.

It is expected that these thunderstorms, some which may be strong, will traverse all of Western and Central Mass over the next few hours. Heavy downpours, gusty winds, lightning and even some small hail will accompany the stronger thunderstorms.

Based on my calculations, these thunderstorms should reach the middle and lower Pioneer Valley, including the Springfield Metro by just before midnight and then last until about 1:30-2 am or so.

Further east, these thunderstorms will reach the easternmost parts of the Pioneer Valley and the western Worcester Hills by about 12:30 am and last in these areas until about 2:30 am.

Areas from the I-190 corridor through the Worcester Metro and into the I-395 corridor will probably see thunderstorms begin by about 1 am and last until about 3 am or so.

Eastern areas of Worcester County, including Route 146, as well as the 495 corridor may see the thunderstorms begin by about 1:15-1:30 am and last until about 3:30 am.

Again, these thunderstorms will be capable of producing heavy downpours, gusty winds, lightning and small hail.
