Strong Thunderstorms Will Cross Western Mass Between 10 pm & 11:30 pm & Will Cross Central Mass Between 11:30 pm and 12:30 am (Posted at 9:40 pm Thursday 7/2/2026)

And here we go again.....

An area of strong thunderstorms seems to be moving eastward towards Western Mass from eastern New York State. These thunderstorms are located just to south of Albany at the time of this post and are moving eastward at a forward speed of about 40 mph. These thunderstorms are producing up to 50 mph wind gusts, very frequent lightning and torrential downpours.

Based on the current motion of these thunderstorms, they look to reach the Mass-New York border by 10 pm and then cross the Berkshires between 10 pm and 10:30 pm. Wind gusts of up to 50 mph, very frequent lightning and heavy downpours are likely when these thunderstorms move through.

These thunderstorms may then push into the middle and lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass by about 11 pm. Expect wind gusts of up to 50 mph, very frequent lightning and torrential downpours when these storms reach the middle and lower Pioneer Valley.

Should these thunderstorms hold together, they would reach the western Worcester Hills by 11:30 pm and then cross central and southern parts of Worcester County during 11:30 pm and 12:30 am hour.

I will be keeping a very close eye on these thunderstorms and will have many more updates over the next 2-3 hours or so.
