Scattered Thunderstorms Are Expected Between 5 pm This Afternoon & 11 pm This Evening Across Western & Central Mass (Posted at 11 am Tuesday 4/14/2026)

It appears that some scattered thunderstorms, some of which will be on the strong side, will be a risk between about 5-6 pm today and about 10-11 pm this evening.

Temperatures as of late this morning are already in the low to middle 70s across the entire area & I expect to see temperatures reach about 80 Degrees or so during this afternoon. In addition, there is likely to be a mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout this afternoon.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to begin affecting the entire area by about 5-6 pm today as a weather disturbance now over far western New York State pushes into our area. It is expected that scattered thunderstorms will continue into this evening before they push to our east by 10-11 pm.

It should be noted that a few of the thunderstorms may be on the strong side and be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 50-60 mph, heavy downpours and frequent lightning.

I will be keeping close tabs on the strong thunderstorm threat for this evening and will have updates as needed.
