Light Snow Expected Tuesday Afternoon & Tuesday Night Across Western & Central Mass

This Afternoon: An area of high pressure will continue to control our weather this afternoon. This means that lots of sunshine can be expected along with cold & windy conditions. Temperatures this afternoon will be in the mid 20s. Northwest winds will gust up to 30 to 35 mph at times leading to wind chill temperatures of around 10 Degrees. Tonight Through Monday: High pressure remains the predominant weather feature for tonight and Monday. Tonight will be clear to partly cloudy with low temperatures between 10 and 15 Degrees. Monday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures between 30 and 35 Degrees. Light Snow Expected Tuesday Afternoon & Tuesday Night:A weakening warm front is expected to lift across the area Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. This frontal boundary is likely to bring light snow to the entire area beginning Tuesday afternoon and continuing through Tuesday night. At this point, it appears that light snow will overspread Western Mass between 2 and 4 pm and then move into Central Mass between 4 and 6 pm Tuesday. Light snow is then expected to continue through Tuesday night before gradually coming to an end on Wednesday morning. As for snow accumulations, it appears that 1 to 3 inches of accumulation looks likely during Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night. High temperatures Tuesday will be between 30 and 35 Degrees. Low temperatures Tuesday night will be near 25 Degrees. Wednesday & Wednesday Night: Light snow may continue for a while Wednesday morning before ending. Skies are then expected to be cloudy during Wednesday afternoon and Wednesday night. High temperatures Wednesday will be near 35 Degrees. Low temperatures Wednesday night will be near 25 Degrees. Thursday & Thursday Night: A powerful storm system is expected to form off of the Virginia and North Carolina coast during Thursday and Thursday night and head out to sea. It appears that this storm will remain too far south to impact our area with snow. I do think that, however, it will be close enough for it to bring us cloudy and windy weather, especially on Thursday afternoon and Thursday night. Thursday is expected to be cloudy and it will become windy during the afternoon. High temperatures Thursday will be near 35 Degrees. Thursday night will be cloudy and windy with low temperatures between 15 and 20 Degrees. Friday Through Saturday:Cold and windy weather is expected from Friday through Saturday even though it will be sunny during the day and clear at night. Friday will be sunny, cold and windy with high temperatures near 25 Degrees. Northwest winds are expected to gust up to 40 mph with wind chill temperatures near 10 Degrees. Friday night will be clear, bitterly cold and windy with low temperatures near 10 Degrees. Northwest winds will gust up to 40 mph. Wind chill temperatures of 5 to 15 below zero are expected on Friday night. Saturday will be sunny, cold and windy. High temperatures will be near 30 Degrees. Northwest winds are expected to gust up to 30 to 40 mph. Wind chill temperatures on Saturday will be near 10 Degrees. Snow Possible Next Monday Into Next Tuesday: There’s the potential for a low pressure system to move along the coast of Southern New England next Monday into next Tuesday. This could be a storm to really keep an eye on as it could bring enough snow to plow across the entire area. Obviously, it is way too soon to get into any specific details, but it appears that snow may occur across the entire area beginning around midday next Monday and then continuing right through next Monday night and next Tuesday morning. As I said, there could be enough snow to plow across the area (at least 3 to 6 inches of accumulation). It’s a system that I will be keeping a close eye on and will keep you updated.
