Late Monday Morning Weather Update For Western & Central Mass

The worst of the torrential downpours that produced quite a bit in the way of flooding during the morning commute across Western and Central Mass has pushed out of the area at the time of this post.

We do have some showers that are lingering across southern and central parts of Worcester County, but the intensity of the rain is less than what we saw earlier this morning.

This morning's heavy downpours was just round 1 & now we are just waiting for round 2, which will come in the form of a line of showers and thunderstorms between 2 pm and 6 pm today.

I do think that there will be some additional shower activity across the region over the next couple of hours or so & this is not part of the line of showers & thunderstorms that are expected. These showers over the next couple of hours will produce locally heavy downpours.

A line of showers and thunderstorms are now developing to the west of Albany, New York. These showers and thunderstorms are moving to the east at a forward speed of about 25-30 mph.

It is anticipated that this line of showers and thunderstorms should reach the Berkshires by about 2 pm & then reach the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass by about 3 pm or so this afternoon. These showers and thunderstorms are then expected to reach the western Worcester Hills by about 4 pm & then move through all of Central Mass during the 4 pm to 6 pm time frame.

All showers and thunderstorms will move out of the entire area by about 7 pm or so this evening.

It is possible that a couple of the thunderstorms could be on the strong side & be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 40-50 mph, torrential downpours and lightning.
