For This Afternoon: A hot and humid afternoon is expected across the entire area under partly sunny skies. Temperatures will be between 90 and 95 Degrees and dew point temperatures will be around 70 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Even though there is quite a bit of unstable air around, a ridge of high pressure centered over our area will stop a majority of the thunderstorm development. That said, a very isolated thunderstorm is possible late this afternoon or this evening.
Tonight: That high pressure system is expected to push to the east as a frontal system pushes eastward across the Great Lakes region.
Skies will be partly cloudy this evening with cloudy skies expected during the after midnight hours. A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm is a possibility during the predawn hours of Thursday morning.
It will be very humid tonight with low temperatures between 70 and 75 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Thursday: Another hot and humid day is expected across the entire area. Skies throughout the day will feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds.
There is the possibility for a couple of rounds of thunderstorms during Thursday.
First round may occur during the late morning and early afternoon hours. These storms look fairly isolated to scattered in coverage and any storms that do occur will produce heavy downpours.
A second round of more robust thunderstorms looks to occur from the very late afternoon hours into the evening hours. These storms will accompany the eastward moving frontal system and some of the thunderstorms might be on the strong to severe side, depending on the atmospheric conditions.
One caveat to this – While the atmosphere is very likely to be quite unstable along with robust amounts of low-level wind shear, the conditions for severe weather might be much more favorable over northern New England. This means that the energy from any severe weather over northern New England could rob any thunderstorms from the energy needed for development. This means that it’s not out of the question that we see very little in the way of late afternoon and evening thunderstorms while all of the thunderstorms occur over northern New England. So, not an easy thunderstorm forecast at all.
For now though, I’m going to go with the potential for a few thunderstorms to affect the entire area between 5 pm and 10 pm Thursday. Some of the thunderstorms may be on the strong to severe side and be capable of producing 40-60 mph wind gusts, torrential downpours and frequent lightning. The tornado threat across our area looks very minimal with a greater threat for a few tornadoes across central and northern Maine, northern New Hampshire and northern Vermont.
High temperatures will be near 90 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be between 70 and 75 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Friday Through Sunday: We’re actually going to have a couple of days of less humidity, which is going to feel wonderful given the very humid conditions of late.
Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 80 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be near 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 7 to 14 mph.
Saturday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures near 80 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees.
An eastward moving frontal system will affect the weather during Sunday. Skies throughout the day on Sunday will be cloudy and there may be some scattered showers during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 75 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.
