Fog, Drizzle & On & Off Rain Expected This Afternoon & Tonight; A Round Of Heavy Rain Is Expected On Monday Morning

For The Rest Of This Afternoon: Drizzle and fog will continue to affect the area throughout the rest of this afternoon. Some of the fog will be locally dense and because of this, please be careful driving if you are out and about this afternoon. In addition, there is probably going to be some on and off rain from time to time during the rest of this afternoon as well.

Temperatures will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Winds will be South at 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight: Drizzle and fog can be expected throughout tonight. Some scattered shower activity is also possible from time to time tonight.

It should be noted that heavy rain associated with an eastward moving frontal system will push into Western Mass by 5-6 am Monday morning and then overspread Central Mass by 6-7 am Monday morning. This means that the Monday morning commute will be adversely impacted by heavy rain.

Temperatures tonight will remain between 45 and 50 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.

Monday: Heavy rain with localized ponding of water on roads and highways will be an issue throughout all of Monday morning as a sharp frontal system pushes across the region. This will most definitely be an issue for Monday morning’s commute and because of this, I urge everyone to use an abundance of caution when traveling on Monday morning.

Rain is expected to come to an end across Western Mass by about 11 am and then come to an end across Central Mass by about midday.

Once that front moves through, it is expected to become partly sunny during Monday afternoon.

High temperatures Monday will be near 55 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph in the morning and West at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph in the afternoon.

New Year’s Eve: A sunny to partly sunny day is expected on New Year’s Eve with high temperatures near 50 Degrees.

The weather for First Night celebrations look dry to start with, but will end fairly rainy.

Increasing clouds are expected during the evening. Rain will begin across the entire area around midnight Tuesday night. The rain is then expected to continue through the after midnight hours of Tuesday night. Low temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees.

New Year’s Day: Rain is expected to continue during the early and mid-morning hours of New Year’s Day before it ends by late morning. Skies will then remain cloudy during the afternoon.

High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees.

Thursday & Friday: Colder weather is expected to move in by the end of this coming week. It should be noted that a blast of some very cold weather is then expected throughout the first full week of January and there may be at least one, if not two threats of accumulating snow to really watch during the first full week of January (I’m looking specifically at January 6 & 7 as days to watch for a legitimate threat for snow).

In fact, the cold and snow threat will probably be the top news stories for the national news as this wave of cold and storminess has the potential to push all the way south towards the Gulf Coast and even into parts of north and central Florida.

I’m not going to say much more than that, but don’t worry, I’m definitely watching the cold & snow threats for the first full week of January very closely.

Thursday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 40 Degrees.

Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 35 Degrees.
