For This Afternoon: A cold front will gradually track across Western and Central Mass this afternoon. A mixture of sunshine and clouds can be expected this afternoon with very mild temperatures of 53 to 58 Degrees. West winds are expected to gust up to 30 mph at times this afternoon. Tonight: Colder air will push back into the area tonight behind that cold front. At the same time this is happening, moisture streaming northeastward which is connected to a developing low pressure system near the North Carolina will lead to increasing clouds this evening. Snow is expected to overspread Western and Central Mass around the 2 to 3 am time frame Sunday morning. Up to one inch of snow accumulation is expected by sunrise Sunday morning. Low temperatures tonight will be near 25 Degrees. Sunday: Light snow is expected throughout the day on Sunday across much of the area as an area of low pressure tracking well east and southeast of Nantucket. While it’s expected to snow lightly everywhere across Western and Central Mass on Sunday morning, the snow is expected to end across Western Mass around midday. Across Central Mass, light snow is expected to continue during the first half of Sunday afternoon and then come to an end from north to south between 3 pm (northern Worcester Hills) and 6 pm Sunday (along and east of Route 146). Snow amounts across Western Mass are expected to range from a dusting across the upper Pioneer Valley to around one inch across the lower Pioneer Valley. Snow amounts across Central Mass are expected to range from around one inch along and north of Route 2 to 1 to 2 inches of snowfall across areas south of Route 2. It’s possible that 2 to 3 inches of snow could accumulate across far southeastern parts of Worcester County. High temperatures Sunday will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Next Week’s Weather Outlook: Monday is expected to be partly sunny and cold with high temperatures between 20 and 25 Degrees. Tuesday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 30 Degrees. Wednesday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. Sunshine is expected to start the day on Thursday with skies becoming cloudy during the afternoon as a frontal system approaches the area. High temperatures Thursday will be between 50 and 55 Degrees. That frontal system is expected to push through the area during Thursday night and next Friday bringing with it rain. At this time, it appears that rain, which may be heavy at times, will occur throughout Thursday night and Friday morning. The rain is expected to end around early afternoon Friday. Rainfall amounts on Thursday night and Friday morning of around one inch seems possible for late Thursday night and Friday morning. Low temperatures Thursday night will be near 40 Degrees.
