A Few Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Are Still Possible This Evening Across Western & Central Mass (Posted Midday Saturday 6/6/2026)

A warm and humid afternoon under a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds are expected across all of Western and Central Mass. Temperatures during this afternoon will be in the low to middle 80s. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.

A cold front is expected to push through the entire area during this evening. This cold front will be pushing into an atmosphere that's unstable due to the warm temperatures and the humid conditions. Additionally, there is expected to be some wind shear available across the region. This combination will lead to a line of thunderstorms, a few of which will be strong to severe, to move through all of Western and Central Mass during this evening.

Current indications seem to point towards a line of thunderstorms to push into Western Mass by about 7 pm this evening. These thunderstorms will cross Western Mass between 7 pm and 10 pm.

For Central Mass, it looks as though this line of thunderstorms will enter western and northern parts of Worcester County by about 8 pm this evening. These thunderstorms will then cross Central Mass between 8 pm and 11 pm.

As I previously mentioned, I do think that a few of the thunderstorms will be on the strong to severe side and be capable of producing up to 60 mph wind gusts. Torrential downpours and frequent lightning are also expected to accompany the thunderstorms that move through this evening.

All thunderstorms will push to the east and be out of our area by just after 11 pm this evening.

It goes without saying that I will be keeping close tabs on this evening's thunderstorm threat & will have more updates as needed.
