9:30 pm Friday Evening Weather Update For Western & Central Mass

Very busy evening so far with the strong thunderstorm that is now moving into Auburn, Oxford and Webster & the large area of thunderstorms that are now entering the lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass & will be overspreading much of central and southern Worcester County.

The strong thunderstorm that is now located around Auburn, Oxford, Webster, Millbury and Sutton is expected to continue moving to the northeast and will affect the south side of Worcester, Grafton, and Westborough over the next 30-45 minutes. Very frequent lightning, gusty winds and torrential downpours with localized flooding are expected with these storms.

Thunderstorms with heavy downpours and lightning have now entered the lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass. It is expected that these thunderstorms will affect much of the middle and lower Pioneer Valley over the next 2 hours. This means that localized flooding is going to be a big time risk & those of you out and about should be cautious and on the lookout for flooded roads.

Much of central and southern Worcester County is likely to also be affected by these thunderstorms starting over the next 30-45 minutes. Once they start, they are expected to last through at least midnight. This means that heavy rain with localized flooding is very likely & because of this, be very cautious of flooded roads between about 10 pm and midnight.
