85 To 90 Degree Temperatures Expected Wednesday Will Be Followed By Scattered Thunderstorms Thursday Afternoon Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: I am currently keeping an eye on some scattered thunderstorm activity that’s now pushing across eastern New York State into far northern parts of Western Mass. These thunderstorms will be limited to the northernmost Berkshires, the uppermost parts of the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass and perhaps northernmost parts of Worcester County through this evening. Main threat with these storms will be heavy downpours, some gusty winds and some lightning. With that said, these storms will be watched.

During the overnight hours of tonight, expect partly cloudy skies with low temperatures near 60 Degrees. Winds will be West to Southwest at 10 to 15 mph.

Wednesday: A sunny to partly sunny day is expected with high temperatures between 85 and 90 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Thunderstorms Look Likely During Thursday Afternoon: A cold front is expected to push into a very warm and humid air mass during Thursday afternoon and because of this, thunderstorms seem likely during Thursday afternoon. The question is whether these thunderstorms will be strong to severe or not.

The atmospheric conditions by Thursday afternoon will consist of temperatures near 85 Degrees and dew point temperatures near 60 Degrees leading to a moderately unstable atmosphere. In addition, there will be some minimal amounts of directional wind shear around, but it shouldn’t be strong enough to support widespread severe weather.

At this point, while I do think we’ll certainly see scattered thunderstorms Thursday afternoon, most of the storms should stay below severe limits. That said, a couple of strong to severe thunderstorms are possible with 50-60 mph wind gusts the main threat.

So, Thursday looks to feature a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds and there may be some scattered thunderstorms during the afternoon (mainly the mid and late afternoon hours). High temperatures will be near 85 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.

Friday: A sunny to partly sunny and dry day is expected on Friday with high temperatures near 85 Degrees.

This Weekend: An uncertain weather pattern is expected during this upcoming Memorial Day weekend as numerous pieces of atmospheric energy rotate through on a west to northwest wind flow.

This means that cloudy skies looks fairly likely on Saturday, Sunday and Memorial Day. As for the rain chances this coming weekend, this is the tough part of the forecast as the timing of each piece of energy is still fairly uncertain. For now, some scattered showers look possible on Saturday afternoon and then again during Monday afternoon.

High temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. High temperatures on Memorial Day will be between 70 and 75 Degrees.
