4 pm Saturday Afternoon Weather Update For Western & Central Mass

Aug 8
1 min read

Radar imagery at the time of this post showed an area of strong thunderstorms that are pushing eastward across easternmost New York State. These thunderstorms are expected to cross the border into far Western Mass by about 4:15 pm-4:30 pm.

It is then anticipated that these strong thunderstorms will make their way across the Berkshires between 4:30 pm and 5:30 pm. These strong thunderstorms may then impact much of the Pioneer Valley of Western Mass by 5:30-6 pm or so & then make their way towards the western Worcester Hills by about 6:15-6:30 pm or so.

Much of, if not all of Worcester County may then be affected by these strong thunderstorms starting in the western Worcester Hills by 6:15-6:30 pm & then reaching the Worcester Metro & the I-190, I-395 & I-290 corridors by around 7 pm or so. Far eastern and southeastern parts of Worcester County could then be affected by these thunderstorms by around 7:30 pm or so.

Again, some of these thunderstorms will be on the strong side & be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 50 mph, torrential downpours with localized flooding & frequent lightning.

More updates will be sent out as needed.
