1 To 2 Inches Of Rain Is Still Expected From This Afternoon Through Tonight Until Early Friday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon: The scattered heavy shower and thunderstorm activity that is pushing east-northeastward across the region right now is associated with a stationary frontal boundary.

It is expected that this front will lift northward a bit into northern Worcester County this afternoon before it pushes back to the south through the area tonight.

This means that the shower coverage this afternoon will become much more widespread as the afternoon progresses. In addition, some isolated embedded thunderstorms can be expected as well. Heavy downpours will accompany the heavier showers and thunderstorms.

Temperatures this afternoon will from around 70 Degrees to around 65 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Tonight & Friday: That frontal system is expected to push southward through the area this evening before moving off of the New England coast by late tonight and Friday morning.

Rain is expected throughout all of tonight and there will be isolated embedded thunderstorms. Additionally, it is expected that the rain will be heavy at times. I do have concerns that the rainfall rates at times will be excessive and because of this, flooding of roads, highways, underpasses, low-lying areas & urban areas.

It appears that the rain will come to an end by just after sunrise Friday morning and because of this, we will probably see a dry, but cloudy Friday across the entire area.

Total rainfall amounts from this afternoon through tonight will average between 1 and 2 inches across the entire area. Localized amounts of up to 3 inches is certainly possible.

Low temperatures tonight will be near 55 Degrees. High temperatures Friday will be near 70 Degrees. Winds tonight will be Northeast at 5 to 10 mph. Winds on Friday will be Northeast at 7 to 15 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy skies are expected throughout Friday night with low temperatures near 55 Degrees. Winds will be North at 5 to 10 mph.

This Weekend: A fabulous weekend in terms of weather is still expected across the region.

Saturday will be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures near 75 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be around 50 Degrees. Winds will be North to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday looks sunny with high temperatures near 80 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be near 55 Degrees.
