1 To 2 Inches Of Rain Is Expected From Late Thursday Afternoon Through Thursday Night & Friday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: A very isolated thunderstorm is possible this evening for areas south of the Mass Pike. Otherwise, skies this evening will be partly cloudy with skies becoming cloudy after midnight.

Low temperatures will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. Winds will be West to Northwest at 5 to 10 mph.

Thursday Through Friday: An area of low pressure is expected to ride along a frontal system and track from the Mid-Atlantic states during Thursday and Thursday night and near the south coast of New England by Friday morning. This storm system and its associated front will bring rounds of rain to the entire area starting later Thursday afternoon and continuing through Thursday night and Friday morning. The rain is expected to be heavy at times, especially during Thursday night with the heaviest rain intensities found across Western Mass.

Scattered showers look likely during Thursday morning into early Thursday afternoon with rain beginning across the entire area during the mid and especially the late afternoon hours. High temperatures Thursday will be between 67 and 73 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 5 to 10 mph.

Rain is expected throughout all of Thursday night across the entire area and it is expected that the rain will be heavy at times. The areas that I have concerns about in terms of excessive rainfall amounts and the potential for flooding Thursday night are across the lower Pioneer Valley of Western Mass, including the Springfield Metro and across the southern Berkshires. Low temperatures Thursday night will be around 55 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 7 to 14 mph.

It appears that rain will continue across the entire area throughout Friday morning. There are still questions as to how quickly the rain will end during Friday afternoon with some weather forecast guidance showing the rain hanging on into the early and mid-afternoon hours. Other weather forecast guidance shows the rain ending by or just before midday Friday and skies remaining cloudy everywhere during Friday afternoon.

I still think that the rain will come to an end across Western Mass and across northern Worcester County by midday Friday & come to an end by mid-afternoon across central and southern Worcester County.

High temperatures Friday will be between 64 and 68 Degrees. Winds will be Northeast at 7 to 15 mph.

Total rainfall amounts from Thursday afternoon through Thursday night and Friday morning will average between 1 and 2 inches across the entire area. There is the potential for upwards of 3 inches of total rainfall across the lower Pioneer Valley, including the Springfield Metro and across the southern Berkshires.
