Very Hot & Humid Weather Is Expected To Continue Through Tomorrow; Another Round Of Scattered Thunderstorms Are Expected This Evening Across Western & Central Mass

For The Rest Of This Afternoon & Tonight: Another very hot and humid afternoon is expected across Western and Central Mass. Because of this, I strongly recommend everyone to limit your time outdoors as the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke is high. If you do need to be outdoors for an extended period of time, drink lots of fluids, find a shaded spot & don’t overexert yourself.

Temperatures throughout the rest of this afternoon will be in the 95 to 100 Degree range with dew point temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Heat index readings will be between 103 and 108 Degrees. Winds this afternoon will be West at 10 to 20 mph.

There is expected to be very little relief tonight from the very humid conditions. Low temperatures tonight will be between 70 and 75 Degrees. Winds tonight will be West at 10 to 15 mph.

The other thing that we’re going to have to watch very closely is for yet another night of scattered thunderstorms across the entire area. The big unknown, however, is how extensive the thunderstorm activity will be. There isn’t a whole lot of forcing in the atmosphere to set off thunderstorms, however, the atmosphere is extremely unstable. This means that any thunderstorms that do develop will quickly become severe.

I do think that we’re probably looking at yet another “nowcast” type situation tonight where I’m tracking the thunderstorms for you as they develop and move towards our area. The reason for this is because the weather guidance have been atrocious at their thunderstorm forecasts the last 3 nights. Even when the thunderstorms have already developed, the model guidance still show no thunderstorms in their forecasts.

For now, I think that we could end up seeing a couple of clusters of strong to severe thunderstorms make their way across Western and Central Mass between about 8 pm and 1 am tonight. Any strong or severe thunderstorms will have the capability of producing wind gusts of up to 40-60 mph, frequent lightning and heavy downpours.

Fourth Of July: The Fourth of July is going to be hot and humid with high temperatures of 90 to 95 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. Heat index readings will be around 100 Degrees.

I know many of you will probably want to be outdoors tomorrow. If you are outdoors, I strongly urge you to drink lots of fluids, find a shaded spot to hang out & be aware if you are getting too hot. If you do find yourself becoming too hot, find an air-conditioned spot immediately as the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke will be high tomorrow.

In addition to the heat and humidity, we are going to have to keep an eye on the risk for thunderstorms during the late afternoon and evening hours of the Fourth. A cold front is expected to gradually sink southward through our area during the afternoon and evening hours. The forcing from this front and a very unstable air mass is likely to lead to thunderstorm development & some of the thunderstorms could be on the strong to severe side.

I suspect that there will be a threat for some scattered thunderstorms between about 4-5 pm and 10 pm tomorrow. A couple of the thunderstorms could be on the strong to severe side & be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 40-60 mph, frequent lightning and torrential downpours.

Sunday: Sunday looks partly sunny & it looks to be less humid. High temperatures will be around 85 Degrees. Dew point temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be East at around 10 mph.

Next Week’s Weather Outlook: A return to more tolerable temperatures and humidity levels are expected next week across the entire area.

An area of low pressure is expected to lift across the area during Monday. This means that some rain can be expected throughout Monday and Monday night across the entire area. High temperatures Monday will be between 70 and 75 Degrees.

Rain looks to continue through Tuesday morning before it comes to an end during the afternoon. High temperatures will be around 70 Degrees.

Wednesday looks generally mostly cloudy with high temperatures near 75 Degrees.

Thursday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 85 Degrees.

Next Friday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 85 Degrees.
