Update On This Afternoon's Additional Snowfall Across Western & Central Mass (Issued: Midday Saturday 1/17/2026)

I will have a full update (including a forecast snowfall map) on the expected second storm that'll bring even more snow to the entire area during Sunday and Sunday evening by about 3-4 pm or so this afternoon.

Until then, I wanted to give you a quick update on the ongoing snow that's occurring, especially from Western Mass through the western and northern Worcester Hills.

For Western Mass: Snow is expected to continue throughout this afternoon before it comes to an end early this evening. Additional snow amounts will range from 1 to 2 inches in the lower Pioneer Valley, including the Springfield Metro to 2 to 3 more inches across the middle and upper Pioneer Valley and across the Berkshires.

For The Western & Northern Worcester Hills: Snow is expected throughout this afternoon. The snow is expected to come to an end during early this evening. Additional snow amounts will range from 1 to 2 inches across the I-84 corridor to around 2 inches across areas of the western Worcester Hills north of Route 9. 2 to 3 more inches of snow is expected across the northern Worcester Hills.

For Central & Southern Worcester County, Including The Worcester Metro, I-395 & Route 146: Snow has just begun again in the Worcester Metro & it is expected to continue throughout this afternoon. For areas closer to I-395 and Route 146, precipitation in the form of rain or a rain-snow mix will develop within the next hour or so. The rain-snow mix will change to all snow by about sunset.

The snow is expected to end across all of central and southern Worcester County by early this evening.

Additional snow amounts will range from a slushy dusting across far southern and southeastern parts of Worcester County, including I-395 and Route 146 to around one inch of additional snowfall across central parts of Worcester County, including the Worcester Metro.

It's been snowing here in Webster for about an hour. All snow so far. No rain. Fingers crossed everything is covered in a blanket of white gold by dark❄️❄️
