With our current weather system just about finished, I wanted to quickly update you on the expected snowfall for Saturday night through Sunday morning based on the latest data.
An area of low pressure is expected to track near the south coast of New England during late Saturday night and Sunday morning.
It appears that snow will begin across the entire area between about 7 pm and 9 pm Saturday evening. The snow is then expected to continue through the rest of the night on Saturday night right into Sunday morning. The snow will then come to an end by about mid-morning or so on Sunday morning.
Basically, this looks to be an overnight Saturday night storm that should be by and large done by the time Sunday morning really gets going. It also means that the daylight hours of Saturday will be fine in terms of weather.
Based on what I'm seeing right now, I think that snow totals may range from 4 to 6 inches or so across areas north of the Mass Pike to 6 to 8 inches or so of snow accumulation across areas near and south of the Mass Pike.
This is going to be a storm that I will be watching closely over the next couple of days or so and I'll have more updates for you as needed.
Finally, be cautious on the roads and especially those side streets & back roads for the next several hours. Some roads are pretty icy from today's combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain and because of that, be careful traveling and take your time during the evening commute.
