Thunderstorms, Some Strong To Possibly Severe, Are Expected This Afternoon Into This Evening: An area of low pressure now located over western New York State will pull a frontal system through the region later this afternoon and tonight. Radar imagery indicates widespread showers and a few thunderstorms are pushing eastward across central and eastern New York State at the time of this writing. It is expected that thunderstorms will strengthen as they push eastward this afternoon. Current indications are that thunderstorms will overspread Western Mass during the 1 to 2 pm time frame with at least a couple of rounds of thunderstorms expected right through the rest of this afternoon into this evening. Thunderstorm activity should come to an end across Western Mass by about midnight tonight. Across Central Mass, it appears that thunderstorms will overspread the region from west to east during about the 2 to 3 pm time frame. At least a couple of rounds of thunderstorms are expected during the second half of this afternoon right through this evening. Thunderstorm activity is expected to come to an end across Central Mass by about midnight or so tonight. While most of the thunderstorms should be just below strong or severe limits, I do think that a few of the thunderstorms will be on the strong to perhaps the severe side. Any strong or severe thunderstorms may produce very gusty winds, hail up to pea or penny size, frequent lightning and torrential downpours. I will be watching things closely and will have updates as needed this afternoon and this evening.
