For The Rest Of This Afternoon: It is expected to remain cloudy throughout the rest of this afternoon. In addition, there is expected to be some additional scattered showers from time to time.
Temperatures this afternoon will be between 64 and 68 Degrees. Winds will be Southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight & Wednesday: A warm front is expected to lift northward across the region late tonight and during Wednesday morning. Once this warm front moves through, we will be placed in a warm and very humid air mass by Wednesday afternoon.
Cloudy skies are expected throughout tonight. In addition, some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will begin to affect the area during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday morning. Low temperatures tonight will be near 60 Degrees. Winds will be South to Southwest at 5 to 10 mph.
Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue to affect the area during Wednesday morning. Once the shower and thunderstorm activity exits during the late morning hours, we will be left with generally cloudy skies during the afternoon hours. That said, there may be some peeks of sunshine from time to time during the afternoon. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees and it will be very humid, especially during the afternoon. Winds will be Southwest at 7 to 14 mph.
Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Possible From Late Thursday Afternoon Into Thursday Evening: Late Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening could be very, very busy in terms of strong to severe thunderstorm potential and it is something that needs to be watched very closely.
Thursday is expected to be a hot and very humid day under partly sunny skies. The combination of afternoon high temperatures of around 90 Degrees and very humid conditions with dew point temperatures near 70 Degrees will lead to the atmosphere becoming very unstable during Thursday afternoon.
At the same time, a cold front is expected to move through Southern New England during later Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. The forcing and energy from this front combined with the very unstable air mass will lead to an environment that’s favorable for strong to severe thunderstorm activity across all of Western and Central Mass during late Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening.
Current indications seem to suggest that scattered strong to severe thunderstorms will overspread the entire area between about 3 pm and 5 pm Thursday afternoon. These strong to severe thunderstorms are then expected to continue to be a threat into Thursday evening before ending between 9 pm and 11 pm Thursday evening.
Any strong to severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 50-70 mph, hail up to the size of pennies and quarters, torrential downpours and frequent lightning. While the tornado threat looks low right now, the tornado threat is something that will need to be monitored closely. The reason why is because there is expected to be somewhat robust amounts of low-level wind shear present leading to the possibility of rotating supercell thunderstorms.
It goes without saying that the severe weather threat for late Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening is something that I will be watching extremely closely and I will have additional updates for you as needed.
Friday: An area of high pressure is expected to build into the area behind that cold front during Friday.
This means that Friday looks like we’ll see a mixture of sunshine and clouds and it will be less humid. High temperatures will be near 80 Degrees.
This Weekend: It actually looks like this entire upcoming weekend will be dry as any showers or thunderstorms will stay well north of our area.
Saturday looks partly sunny with high temperatures near 85 Degrees.
Sunday is expected to be partly sunny, hot and humid with high temperatures near 90 Degrees.
Hot & Humid Weather Is Expected Throughout Next Week: A period of hot and humid weather looks very likely throughout much of next week as a high pressure system over the eastern United States pumps in hot and humid air into the region.
Monday looks partly sunny, hot and humid with high temperatures between 90 and 95 Degrees.
Tuesday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny, hot and humid with high temperatures between 90 and 95 Degrees.
Wednesday looks partly sunny, hot and humid with high temperatures between 90 and 95 Degrees.
Thursday looks partly sunny, very warm and humid. In addition, there’s the possibility of some afternoon and evening scattered showers and thunderstorms. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees.
Friday looks to feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds. In addition, there is the possibility of some scattered showers and thunderstorms at times during the day. High temperatures will be near 85 Degrees.
