Some Risk For A Few Strong To Severe Thunderstorms Tuesday Afternoon Across Western & Central Mass

For The Rest Of Today: A weak frontal system is pushing to the east with a brief break in the wet weather expected for the rest of today. This means that the rest of today will feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. It will be quite humid the rest of today with dew point temperatures of between 65 and 70 Degrees expected. Winds will be South at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: A stronger cold front is expected to begin to approach the area from the west. Skies tonight will be cloudy and it appears that there will be some scattered showers around well after midnight. It will be humid with low temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be South at 5 to 10 mph. Tuesday: That cold front is expected to push through the region during Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening. Some morning scattered showers are expected across the entire area. During the afternoon, more widespread showers with scattered thunderstorms are expected. The question is whether there will be any strong to severe thunderstorms. The atmosphere is expected to be moderately unstable from late morning through the afternoon hours. In addition, the amount of low-level wind shear looks modest, but sufficient enough to support a few strong to severe thunderstorms. While extremely heavy downpours will be the main threat from any heavy showers and thunderstorms, any strong to severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing wind gusts of up to 45 to 65 mph and frequent lightning strikes. Also, there is a very low risk for an isolated tornado or two should we have a really severe thunderstorm develop. The time frame for the main threat of any strong to severe thunderstorms looks to be between about 12 pm and 6 pm Tuesday. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. It will be quite humid with dew point temperatures around 70 Degrees expected. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Wednesday Through Friday: An area of high pressure will build into the area beginning on Wednesday and will control the weather for Thursday and Friday. Wednesday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees with gradually lowering humidity levels. Very Fall like weather is expected for Thursday & Friday. Thursday is expected to be sunny and much less humid with high temperatures between 65 and 70 Degrees. Friday is expected to be sunny with high temperatures between 65 and 70 Degrees. Saturday and Sunday: A very nice weekend looks quite possible across the entire area with sunshine expected on both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures both days will be near 75 Degrees with very comfortable humidity levels.
