Rain & Windy Conditions Late Thursday Night & Friday Morning Are Expected Across Western & Central Mass (Issued: Wednesday Afternoon 12/17/2025)

For Tonight: Clear skies are expected throughout tonight. Low temperatures between 25 and 30 Degrees. Winds will be West at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph before midnight and West at 10 to 15 mph after midnight.

Thursday: Skies are expected to start out sunny during the morning. Increasing clouds are then expected during the afternoon as a frontal system begins to approach our area.

High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will be South at around 10 mph.

Thursday Night & Friday: A strong frontal system is expected to move though the area during Friday morning. Along and just out ahead of this front, there will be an area of rain that will be heavy at times that’ll affect the entire area from very late Thursday night through Friday morning. Additionally, it will become windy out ahead of the front with these windy conditions continuing behind the front.

Rain will overspread all of Western and Central Mass well after midnight Thursday night. The rain is then expected to continue through Friday morning & the rain will be heavy at times. It appears that the rain will quickly end during the early afternoon hours. All-in-all, it appears that rainfall totals of around one inch can be expected.

In addition to the heavy rain, it will also be windy during late Thursday night and all day Friday. During Thursday night, expect South winds of 10 to 20 mph before midnight and South winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph after midnight. On Friday, expect South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-45 mph in the morning and West winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-50 mph in the afternoon.

Temperatures during Thursday night will rise through the mid and upper 40s. Temperatures on Friday will start out in the low 50s during the morning and will fall through the 40s during the afternoon.

Friday Night: Windy and much colder weather is expected on Friday night. It’s possible that there could be a few scattered snow showers during the evening before skies clear out during the overnight hours.

Low temperatures will be near 20 Degrees. Winds will be West at 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 40-50 mph.

This Weekend: Saturday looks to be a sunny to partly sunny day and it’ll be windy. High temperatures will be near 35 Degrees.

A weak frontal system looks to pass through the area during Sunday. This means that skies will be cloudy throughout the day on Sunday & some scattered snow showers are possible from time to time. High temperatures will be between 35 and 40 Degrees.

First Look At Christmas Week: Monday looks sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures near 30 Degrees.

I’m going to be watching a frontal system for Tuesday and Tuesday night as it could bring the entire area a period of light snow sometime during Tuesday into Tuesday night. Should this occur, it would guarantee a White Christmas across the entire area, even though any snow accumulations would be light. High temperatures Tuesday will be between 30 and 35 Degrees.

Christmas Eve looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 30 and 35 Degrees.

A look at Christmas Day reveals that skies may end up partly sunny with high temperatures between 30 and 35 Degrees.

Beyond this, next Thursday night and next Friday, we might be watching a storm system that could bring mixed precipitation in the form of snow, freezing rain & rain. It’s way out there in time, so I don’t want to get more specific than that, except to say I am keeping an eye on it.
