Midnight Storm Update

Very quick update on the latest with our storm.

Snow is still falling across the entire area as of about the midnight hour. I just took a new measurement of how much snow we have here in Sturbridge & I measured about 3 inches of snow so far with this storm.

Snow is expected to continue to fall across the area for about another couple of hours or so before it changes to sleet.

Latest data is pointing towards the snow changing to sleet across areas near and south of the Mass Pike around the 2-3 am time frame. For areas north of the Mass Pike, the snow looks to change to sleet between 3 and 6 am or so.

A sleet storm is then anticipated to occur across areas near and south of the Mass Pike from 2-3 am until 7-8 am when it will change to freezing rain and from about 3-6 am until late morning sometime when it will change to freezing rain across areas north of the Mass Pike.

ADDITIONAL SNOW AMOUNTS: 1 to 2 more inches of snow accumulation is expected across areas near and south of the Mass Pike and across the lower Pioneer Valley over the next couple of hours or so before the snow changes to sleet. For areas north of the Mass Pike, additional snow amounts of 2 to 4 more inches of snow can be expected for the next few hours before the snow changes to sleet. Up to 5 more inches of snow is a possibility across the northern Worcester Hills.

There is still no change from my forecast earlier today in regards to the freezing rain forecast for later this morning through this afternoon.

All-in-all, I'm expecting ice amounts of around one tenth of an inch in the lower Pioneer Valley and across eastern Worcester County. Elsewhere across Western and Central Mass, ice amounts of around one quarter of an inch can be expected. The exception still looks to be across the Worcester Hills west of I-190 and across the Berkshires where ice amounts of around one half of an inch is expected.

Many more updates on this storm will be posted as needed.
