Late Afternoon & Evening Scattered Thunderstorms Expected Across Western & Central Mass

For This Afternoon: A warm and humid afternoon is expected across the region. In addition, it looks like scattered thunderstorms are likely across the entire area during the late afternoon and evening hours. The setup for these thunderstorms will consist of a moderately unstable air mass that’s combined with quite a bit of warmth and humidity. In addition, a piece of energy rotating through the region will provide forcing and energy to set off these scattered thunderstorms. It should be noted that some of the thunderstorms may be on the strong side with 40-55 mph wind gusts, small hail, frequent lightning and torrential downpours. To sum it up, I expect to see scattered thunderstorms fire off by the mid and late afternoon hours across all of Western and Central Mass. These thunderstorms are likely to persist into this evening before ending towards midnight. Some of these thunderstorms will be on the strong side with 40-55 mph wind gusts, penny size hail, frequent lightning and torrential downpours. Temperatures this afternoon will be around 85 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: Scattered thunderstorms will come to an end towards midnight with skies remaining cloudy throughout the overnight hours. Low temperatures will be near 65 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Wednesday: Lots of sunshine is expected along with very warm and humid conditions throughout Wednesday. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday: A trough of low pressure is expected to push its way through the region during late Thursday and Thursday night. The forcing and energy from this trough will combine with a hot and oppressively humid air mass to produce the potential for quite a bit in the way of severe weather during Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening. The severe weather threat for Thursday afternoon and Thursday evening is something that’ll need to be monitored extremely closely as the combination of an unstable air mass and fairly strong wind shear will lead to the potential for thunderstorms to produce very gusty winds, hail, torrential downpours, a couple of tornadoes and frequent lightning. High temperatures will be around 90 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Friday & Saturday: Hot and oppressively humid weather is expected for both Friday and Saturday. In addition to the heat and humidity, we’re going to have to keep an eye on the potential for afternoon and evening thunderstorms on both Friday and Saturday. Friday looks partly sunny, hot and humid with some scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Some of these thunderstorms could be on the strong side. High temperatures will be between 90 and 95 Degrees. Saturday looks partly sunny, hot and humid with scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. High temperatures will be around 90 Degrees. Sunday & Monday: An area of high pressure will build into the region and looks to deliver a more comfortable air mass for both Sunday and Monday. Sunday looks sunny to partly sunny with comfortable humidity levels. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Monday looks sunny to partly sunny with very comfortable humidity levels. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees.
