For This Afternoon: A partly sunny, very warm and humid afternoon is expected across the area. In addition, a trough of low pressure located over central New York State is expected to push into Southern New England and will be the trigger for some isolated showers and thunderstorms. Any thunderstorms will be of the garden variety type and strong to severe storms are not expected. As for a time frame for any isolated showers and thunderstorms, it appears that the most likely time frame will be between 4 pm and 7 pm across Western Mass and between 6 pm and 9 pm across Central Mass. It should be noted though that most areas should stay dry today. Temperatures this afternoon will be between 85 and 90 Degrees with very humid conditions (Dew point temperatures around 70 Degrees). Heat index readings of 95 to 100 Degrees are possible. This means that if you must work outdoors this afternoon, drink plenty of fluids and take frequent breaks. Winds will be southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Tonight & Wednesday: Any leftover isolated shower/thunderstorm activity will be done by about 9-10 pm with the rest of tonight expected to feature partly cloudy skies. It will be warm and humid with low temperatures near 65 Degrees. Winds will be west at 7 to 15 mph. Wednesday will be a sunny with a little bit less humid conditions. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday: A very hot and very humid day is expected on Thursday with lots of sunshine expected. High temperatures will be between 95 and 100 Degrees. Heat index readings of near 105 Degrees are expected due to the combination of very hot and very humid conditions (Dew point temperatures will be between 70 and 75 Degrees). Friday: A very warm and very humid day is expected on Friday as we wait for a frontal system to cross the region. Skies during Friday will be a mixture of sunshine and clouds and it appears that there will be some scattered late afternoon and evening thunderstorms. Locally heavy downpours look to be the main threat with any thunderstorms and severe storms are not anticipated. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees. The very humid conditions with dew point temperatures of 70 to 75 Degrees will lead to heat index readings of 95 to 100 Degrees. This Weekend: Unfortunately, the passage of that frontal system will do little to curtail the heat and humidity. Saturday looks partly sunny and there may be some scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms. It will be very humid with high temperatures around 85 Degrees. Sunday also looks partly sunny with very warm and very humid conditions. High temperatures will be between 85 and 90 Degrees.
