Additional Heavy Rain Is Expected Tonight Through Tuesday Across Western & Central Mass

Round one of the extended heavy rainfall is now done across Central Mass and most of Western Mass.

Round 2 of even more moderate to heavy rain is expected to overspread all of Western Mass over the next 2 to 3 hours and then overspread all of Central Mass by about 6-7 pm this evening.

Rain, which will fall at a moderate to heavy rate at times, is then expected throughout Tonight. Additional rainfall amounts tonight will average between 1 and 2 inches across the entire area with local amounts of another 3 to 4 inches likely in areas that see heavy downpours for an extended period of time.

During Tuesday, rain, which will fall at a moderate to heavy rate at times, is expected throughout much of the day across the entire area. An additional 1 to 2 inches of rainfall is expected across all of Western and Central Mass with local amounts of up to 3 more inches possible.

In terms of flood concerns - The most worry is for street, highway and poor drainage flooding, especially in areas that see prolonged periods of heavy rain. The rivers and streams will do okay as they are obviously at a VERY low level. Also, those of you that are on the roads tonight or on Tuesday, please be careful - Water will likely pond on some roads, especially during bouts of heavy rain. Visibility will also be limited in heavy rain at times and areas of fog.

More updates will be sent out as needed.
