Record Warmth Expected For Friday Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: Skies will start out clear to partly cloudy this evening with increasing clouds expected after midnight tonight as a frontal system approaches from the west. Low temperatures will be between 25 and 30 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph. Thursday: That frontal system will continue to approach our area during Thursday. This means that a mixture of some sunshine and lots of clouds can be expected in the morning with cloudy skies expected during the afternoon. In addition, scattered rain showers will overspread Western Mass during the early afternoon hours and then Central Mass by mid to late afternoon. High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Thursday Night: Scattered rain showers will continue through the evening as the warm front part of that frontal system moves through the area. The warm front will be located to our north after midnight and thus showers will come to an end by then. Low temperatures will be near 40 Degrees. Winds will be South at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 to 40 mph. Friday: Record warmth for this time of year is expected on Friday under partly sunny skies. High temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be West at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 to 40 mph. Saturday: An area of high pressure will build into the area for Saturday. This means that Saturday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. Sunday & Monday: I am going to be watching the track of a storm system that will take shape over the North Carolina coast during the day on Sunday. The overall upper level wind pattern for this weekend looks like it’s going to be a generally west to east wind flow. This leads me to believe that this storm system should pass fairly far south and east of the area. That said, we’re going to have to see how far north the precipitation shield moves in relation to our area. Weather forecast guidance seems to be gradually trending a little further north and because of this, it’s possible that areas near and south of the Mass Pike sees some light snow on Sunday night and Monday morning. For now, my thinking is that Sunday starts out sunny to partly sunny with an increase in clouds expected during the afternoon. Some light snow is a possibility for areas south of the Mass Pike for Sunday night and Monday morning while areas near and north of the Mass Pike stay cloudy on Sunday night and Monday morning. Gradual clearing is then expected for Monday afternoon. High temperatures Sunday will be near 40 Degrees. Low temperatures Sunday night will be near 25 Degrees. High temperatures Monday will be near 45 Degrees. This will be a storm that I’ll be watching closely over the coming days.

Quick Shot Of Sleet & Freezing Rain This Evening Across Western & Central Mass

A fast moving frontal system is expected to push across the region This Evening bringing with it a round of freezing rain and sleet to the area for a few hours this evening. Current indications point to that precipitation in the form of freezing rain and sleet will overspread Western Mass by 7-8 pm this evening. Across Central Mass, it appears that freezing rain and sleet will begin by about 8-9 pm this evening. The freezing rain and sleet is expected to last for about 2 to 3 hours or so at any one location before it comes to an end and all precipitation will be done everywhere by midnight. Ice accumulations from the freezing rain and sleet will be very light. That said, even a very light accumulation of ice is still going to make things slippery this evening across the entire area. If you are out and about this evening, be sure to use extreme caution when traveling. That front moves to the east late tonight and Wednesday looks like it’ll feature plenty of sunshine with high temperatures near 45 Degrees.

Non Winter Winter Returns To Western & Central Mass Throughout This Coming Week

For Tonight: An area of low pressure is expected to pass well southeast of New England tonight. This storm will pass way too far offshore to give us any sort of precipitation. At this point, it appears that skies will be cloudy tonight with low temperatures between 30 and 35 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Monday: Another mild day is expected for Monday under cloudy skies during the morning and increasing sunshine in the afternoon. High temperatures will be between 45 and 50 Degrees. Winds will be Northwest at 10 to 20 mph. Tuesday Through Wednesday: No weather problems for the middle of the week as we will be in a milder than average weather pattern. Tuesday looks partly sunny with high temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. It appears that a frontal system will move across the region during Tuesday night bringing with it some scattered rain showers during the first half of Tuesday night. Low temperatures will be near 35 Degrees. Wednesday is expected to be sunny to partly sunny with high temperatures between 45 and 50 Degrees. Thursday Through Friday: An area of low pressure is expected to track across northern New England. This will pull a warm front northward across the region during the day on Thursday. This means that Thursday will be cloudy and there will be some rain during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 45 Degrees. Rain continues throughout Thursday night with temperatures between 40 and 45 Degrees. That warm front will be located to our north during Friday. Because of this, Friday could be a very mild day under cloudy skies and the chance for some scattered showers. High temperatures will be between 52 and 57 Degrees.
