Widespread Showers With A Few Thunderstorms Tonight Through Friday Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight & Friday: It looks like conditions are going to get pretty wet beginning later tonight and continuing through much of the day on Friday. A warm front is expected to lift northward across the region later tonight and move through during Friday morning. Along and ahead of this warm front will be the likelihood of widespread showers and a few thunderstorms. Scattered showers will overspread the region this evening with the showers becoming quite widespread after midnight tonight. In addition, a couple of thunderstorms are a possibility very late tonight. Widespread showers with a few possible thunderstorms are expected throughout Friday morning. Main threat from any thunderstorms will be torrential downpours. The shower and thunderstorm activity looks to diminish some during Friday afternoon as that warm front lifts to the north. This means that I think that we’ll see some scattered showers during Friday afternoon and Friday evening, but they shouldn’t be as widespread as what’s expected during Friday morning. Low temperatures tonight will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. High temperatures Friday will be near 70 Degrees. Winds tonight will be South at 5 to 10 mph. Winds on Friday will be South at 10 to 20 mph. This Weekend: It now looks like some unsettled weather will persistthrough Saturday as a trough of low pressure pushes through the region. This means that Saturday looks like it’ll feature a mixture of sunshine and clouds throughout the day. In addition, there may be a few hit or miss showers around from time to time. Not a wash out of a day by any means though. High temperatures Saturday will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Sunday looks to be a partly sunny day with high temperatures between 70 and 75 Degrees. Next Week: The weather for next week is going to depend heavily on what happens in the tropics and more specifically with Tropical Storm Franklin and another tropical disturbance that’ll be moving into the northwest Caribbean and the eastern Gulf of Mexico the next few days. Even though Tropical Storm Franklin is likely to stay way too our east and not directly impact us, there is the possibility that moisture from the storm could be pulled into the area by a passing trough of low pressure around Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. If this happens, then it could mean a period of heavy rain sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday. In addition to this, there is the possibility for a tropical system to head into Florida around Wednesday of next week. We will have to watch the upper level wind pattern and see if there is any chance this storm could move right up the East Coast into our area late next week or so with even more heavy rain. Next week’s weather looks anything but boring.
