For Tonight Through Tuesday Morning: We are going to start tonight with a scattered of showers with perhaps a thunderstorm or two this evening. It is expected that there will be a marked increase in shower and thunderstorm activity once we get past midnight tonight as we are located in between a warm front to the northeast and a very robust cold front located to the west. This will put us in the warm and humid sector of this weather system. This all means that widespread showers and scattered thunderstorms look to overspread the entire area probably during the 3-5 am time frame Tuesday morning. This widespread shower and scattered thunderstorm activity looks to continue into much of Tuesday morning, especially across Central Mass before it comes to an end just before midday. Overall, it appears that very heavy rainfall and some gusty winds will be the main threat with the scattered thunderstorm activity. This heavy rainfall will likely impact the Tuesday morning commute and because of this slow going is likely due to areas of flooding of roads, highways, underpasses and areas of poor drainage. Even though it’s not expected, I’m going to be closely watching for the potential of rotating thunderstorms which could produce some very gusty winds of 50-60 mph and perhaps brief tornadoes as the low-level wind shear looks to be enhanced between about 3 am and 9 am Tuesday morning. Again, not expecting this, but it’s something I’ll be watching out for, just in case. Temperatures tonight are actually expected to rise to near 70 Degrees after midnight with a marked increase in humidity levels. Winds tonight will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Tuesday Afternoon: Drier air should push into the area during the afternoon. That said, the atmosphere still looks to be fairly unstable and because of this, we should still see some scattered shower and thunderstorm activity. That said, the showers and thunderstorms should be quite hit or miss. Temperatures during Tuesday afternoon will be around 80 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Wednesday: An area of high pressure will build into the region during Wednesday giving us a nice day, albeit it will be windy. Skies on Wednesday will be sunny with high temperatures between 80 and 85 Degrees. It will be less humid on Wednesday as well. Winds will be West at 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Thursday & Friday: A trough of low pressure is expected to push through during Thursday. Because of this, morning sunshine will give way to afternoon clouds, along with some scattered showers. High temperatures Thursday will be near 80 Degrees. Friday looks like a sunny to partly sunny day with high temperatures between 80 and 85 Degrees.
