Warm & Humid Weather Continues Through Monday; Thunderstorms Expected Monday Evening

For This Afternoon: Warm and humid weather is expected throughout this afternoon under a mixture of sunshine and clouds. In addition, a few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm is possible this afternoon, especially across areas north of the Mass Pike. Temperatures this afternoon will be near 75 Degrees. Winds this afternoon will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: Lots of clouds with perhaps some breaks in the clouds at times is expected tonight. In addition, a few showers will be possible this evening, especially across areas north of the Mass Pike. Low temperatures tonight will be near 60 Degrees. Winds tonight will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Monday & Monday Night: A strong cold front is expected to sweep across the region during Monday evening bringing with it a line of showers and thunderstorms between about 7 pm and 10 pm Monday evening. Before that though, the daylight hours of Monday look generally partly sunny and it’ll be warm and humid. In addition, an isolated shower or thunderstorm is possible during the afternoon. Most areas though should stay dry during the day on Monday. High temperatures Monday will be near 80 Degrees with continued humid conditions. A line of showers and thunderstorms that will be associated with the cold front is expected to push into Western Mass by about the 6 pm to 7 pm time frame Monday evening and then overspread Central Mass around the 8 to 9 pm time frame Monday evening. The question then becomes will there be strong to severe thunderstorms Monday evening. It looks as though the thunderstorms will be moving through while the sun is setting and we see the loss of the heat of the day. Because of this, I think the thunderstorms should be on a general weakening trend Monday evening, especially across Central Mass. The area that has the greatest risk for some severe thunderstorms with wind gusts of up to 55 to 65 mph will be across the Berkshires and across areas west of I-91. Along and east of I-91 and across all of Central Mass, the severe weather risk looks low and I think that the thunderstorms that do move through should be non-severe in nature. Tuesday Through Friday: A return to less humid and cooler conditions is expected once that cold front moves to the east. Tuesday and Wednesday both look sunny to partly sunny. High temperatures both days will be near 70 Degrees. Thursday looks cloudy and there may be a few showers around as a weather disturbance pushes through the area. High temperatures Thursday will be near 70 Degrees. Friday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees. Outlook For Next Weekend: Hot and humid weather is looking increasingly more likely for next weekend as an area of high pressure pushes off of the East Coast and puts us into a southwesterly wind flow. Saturday looks partly sunny and humid with high temperatures of 90 to 95 Degrees. Sunday also looks partly sunny and humid. Some late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms are possible. High temperatures next Sunday will be near 90 Degrees.
