Warm & Humid Through Monday Across Western & Central Mass; Thunderstorms Likely Monday Evening

For The Rest Of Today: Skies likely will become partly sunny by this afternoon and remain this way throughout this afternoon. Additionally, a few showers are possible by this evening. High temperatures today will be near 85 Degrees with humid conditions. Winds the rest of today will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: A round of showers are expected tonight, especially between midnight tonight and dawn on Sunday morning. Low temperatures tonight will be between 60 and 65 Degrees. Winds tonight will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Sunday: Some leftover showers are expected during the morning with a mixture of sunshine and clouds expected during the afternoon. It will be humid on Sunday with high temperatures between 75 and 80 Degrees. Winds on Sunday will be southwest at 5 to 10 mph. Monday: A strong cold front is expected to push eastward reaching Southern New England by Monday evening. Partly sunny skies are expected throughout the day Monday and there may be an isolated shower or two during the afternoon. High temperatures Monday will be near 80 Degrees with continued humid conditions. Showers and thunderstorms that will be associated with the cold front is expected to push into Western Mass by about the 6 pm to 8 pm time frame Monday evening and then overspread Central Mass around the 8 to 9 pm time frame Monday evening. It is possible that there may be one or two of these storms that may become strong or even severe. The reason for this is because it is expected to be plenty of warm, humid air to support thunderstorms that could become strong to severe. With that said, it’s possible that the thunderstorms may be on a weakening trend by the time they move into the area, especially across Central Mass due to the beginning of the loss of heat of the day (sunset is now at around 8:05 pm). If a couple of thunderstorms do become strong to severe, the main threat would be gusty winds of up to 50 to 60 mph and perhaps some hail. At this point, even though I think that thunderstorms are likely everywhere Monday evening, the severe weather risk looks kind of low at this point. Tuesday Through Friday: A return to less humid and cooler conditions is expected once that cold front moves to the east. Tuesday and Wednesday both look sunny to partly sunny. High temperatures both days will be near 70 Degrees. Thursday looks cloudy and there may be some scattered showers around as a weather disturbance pushes through the area. High temperatures Thursday will be near 70 Degrees. Friday is expected to be partly sunny with high temperatures near 75 Degrees. Outlook For Next Weekend: A return to heat and humidity is possible for next weekend as an area of high pressure pushes off of the East Coast and puts us into a southwesterly wind flow. Even though both next Saturday and next Sunday look partly sunny, there could be some scattered late afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms both days. High temperatures both next Saturday and next Sunday may be around 85 Degrees with humid conditions.
