Very High To Extremely High Fire Danger This Weekend Across Western & Central Mass

The combination of very dry ground conditions, northwest winds that will gust up to 30-35 mph, low relative humidity values and lots of sunshine will lead to a very high to extremely high fire danger throughout all of Today and also throughout all of Sunday across the entire area.

My recommendation to you is to avoid any activities that could lead to a quickly moving and quickly spreading brush fire or wildfire. These include having bonfires, using chainsaws or power tools in high grass or in dry leaves, idling your vehicle in tall grass or on dry leaves, improperly discarding cigarettes and dumping ash in leaves or high grass.

Given the expected conditions today and Sunday, any fires that do start will be able to quickly spread and this is why the fire danger is so extremely high.
