At the time of this post, thunderstorms with heavy downpours are occurring along the Mass Pike from about Auburn westward to Sturbridge and Brimfield. Other thunderstorms are occurring around Monson and Wales. These thunderstorms are moving to the east at a forward speed of about 15-20 mph.
It is expected that areas along and south of the Mass Pike from Monson and Brimfield eastward through Sturbridge and Southbridge to Auburn, Oxford, Webster and Grafton will be impacted by thunderstorms with heavy downpours over the next hour. Watch for street and highway flooding as these storms are producing torrential downpours & will be capable of producing 1-2 inch per hour rainfall rates.
More thunderstorms are developing out west across the southern Berkshires as well as a new storm forming near Agawam. This means that additional thunderstorm activity is likely over the next few hours for areas along and south of the Mass Pike.
North of the Mass Pike, all is quiet, but I will be watching the thunderstorms over eastern New York State as they move eastward over the next several hours as they could affect more areas of Western and Central Mass.
More updates will be sent out as needed.
