We are now in a pause between parts of the current snowfall & it needs to be emphasized that the worst part of this storm doesn't occur until late afternoon and this evening.
For the rest of this afternoon, there will be a break in the steady snow for the next few hours with steady snow developing across the entire area by about 5 pm this afternoon.
Between about 5 pm this afternoon and midnight tonight, snow, moderate to heavy at times, can be expected across all of Western and Central Mass. Snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour can be expected at times. This will lead to poor travel conditions due to slick road conditions and low visibilities. I strongly urge you to use extreme caution if you are out and about on roads between 5 pm and midnight.
Anyone that's going to be traveling home after this afternoon's Pats-Texans game (whether locally or traveling back from Foxboro) needs to be aware that it's going to be slow going traveling. And yes, it's going to be snowing in Foxboro for much of the game, especially during the late third and fourth quarters.
As we get into the after midnight hours of tonight, it's likely to continue snowing across the entire area. The intensity of the snow during the after midnight hours looks to be light to occasionally moderate.
The snow looks to come to an end across the entire area just after sunrise Monday morning.
Forecast Snow Totals: It still looks like snow totals of 3 to 5 inches can be expected across all of Western and Central Mass by the time this storm wraps up tomorrow morning. It's not out of the question that isolated 6 inch snow totals are a possibility in far southern Worcester and far southeastern Worcester County (I-395 & Route 146 corridor).
