Analysis of radar imagery and other weather data indicates that strong to severe thunderstorms are now occurring across areas from central and eastern New York State into northern Pennsylvania. These storms are heading on a easterly trajectory at a forward speed of about 25 mph.
Current indications are that these thunderstorms should move into Western Mass by about the 5-6 pm time frame and then push into Central Mass by about 7 pm or so. These thunderstorms are then expected to continue through this evening before ending from west to east, starting across Western Mass around the 10 pm time frame and then ending across Central Mass by midnight tonight.
Some of the thunderstorms that move through will be on the strong to perhaps severe side with 45-65 mph wind gusts, quarter to half-dollar size hail and torrential downpours that will lead to localized areas of flash flooding of highways, streets, underpasses and areas of poor drainage.
The weekend still looks very, very nice with lots of sunshine expected for both Saturday and Sunday. High temperatures both days will be around 80 Degrees with lower humidity levels, especially on Sunday.
More updates on the thunderstorms will be sent out as needed.
