For This Afternoon: Generally cloudy skies are expected throughout this afternoon with humid conditions expected. In addition to this, some scattered showers and thunderstorms can be expected between about 2 pm this afternoon and 7 pm this evening. Strong or severe thunderstorms are not expected with the storms this afternoon. These storms, however, are expected to be slow moving heavy downpour producing storms and because of this ponding of water on streets, highways, underpasses and areas of poor drainage can be expected.
Temperatures will be around 70 Degrees. Winds will be Southeast at 5 to 10 mph.
Tonight: Any leftover scattered showers or thunderstorms will dissipate by 8 pm this evening. The rest of tonight is expected to be cloudy with areas of fog after midnight. Some of the fog will be locally dense during the after midnight hours.
Low temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph.
Friday: Low clouds and fog can be expected during the morning with skies becoming a mixture of sunshine and clouds by early afternoon.
During the afternoon hours, a mix of sun and clouds can be expected. Some late afternoon and evening scattered thunderstorms across Western Mass while Central Mass should remain dry.
High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 6 to 12 mph.
Saturday: A busy weather day in terms of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms continues to look plausible on Saturday.
A warm front is expected to push through the region during Saturday morning putting the area in a warm and humid air mass for a while during Saturday afternoon. A cold front is then expected to push through the area by late Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening.
The warm and humid air mass during Saturday afternoon should help to foster a favorable environment for the development of strong to possibly severe thunderstorms. How unstable and favorable the atmosphere remains to be seen. At this point, it appears that the atmosphere should be just unstable enough to promote a few of the thunderstorms to be on the strong side with perhaps one or two becoming severe. That said, the weather setup for Saturday is going to be watched very closely and I will have more updates for you as needed.
Skies during the day on Saturday looks to be cloudy, although there may be some peeks of sunshine at times during the afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms are expected to overspread Western Mass by 1-3 pm Saturday afternoon with these thunderstorms moving into Central Mass by 2-4 pm Saturday afternoon. These storms should last a few hours and be done by early evening Saturday. Some of the thunderstorms might be on the strong to severe side with wind gusts of up to 45-60 mph, torrential downpours and frequent lightning.
High temperatures will be near 75 Degrees. Winds will be South at 10 to 15 mph.
Sunday: Cloudy skies are expected on Sunday. In addition, some isolated showers are possible during the afternoon.
High temperatures will be near 70 Degrees.
Next Week’s Weather Outlook: A cool air mass is expected to set up across the region throughout next week as an upper level low pressure system over Atlantic Canada imports cool Canadian air into our area.
Monday looks partly sunny and windy with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.
