Showers & Thunderstorms Expected Saturday Night & Sunday Morning Across Western & Central Mass

For Tonight: A high pressure system will be positioned over the area tonight. This means that skies will be clear to partly cloudy with low temperatures between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be West at 5 to 10 mph. Saturday: It appears that the day will start out sunny to partly sunny, but we will be watching a pretty robust frontal boundary and piece of atmospheric energy that’ll be approaching from the west. Current indications are that this front should push through sometime Saturday night or Sunday morning. This means that I think things stay dry all day Saturday with any thunderstorms holding off until evening. Also, Saturday afternoon looks partly sunny. High temperatures will be between 80 and 85 Degrees with increasing amounts of humidity anticipated during the afternoon. Winds will be Southwest at 7 to 14 mph. Saturday Night & Sunday: As I already mentioned, that frontal system will make its way through our area during Saturday night and Sunday morning. Scattered showers and thunderstorms look to affect the entire area during Saturday evening. At this time, it looks like strong or severe thunderstorms aren’t expected due to weak forcing and energy. That said, if there happens to be any strong thunderstorms, the area that has the greatest chance of seeing strong storms is across Western Mass and especially near and west of I-91. I’ll be keeping an eye on this closely and will keep you updated. A second round of showers and thunderstorms look to affect the entire area from the pre-dawn hours of Sunday morning through sunrise Sunday morning. Again, strong or severe thunderstorms are not expected. The showers and thunderstorms should move out of the area by late Sunday morning with increasing sunshine expected during Sunday afternoon. Low temperatures Saturday night will be between 65 and 70 Degrees. High temperatures Sunday will be between 80 and 85 Degrees. Winds on Saturday night will be South at 10 to 20 mph. Winds on Sunday will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Monday: An area of high pressure will build over the area giving the entire area a sunny to partly sunny Monday. High temperatures will be between 80 and 85 Degrees. Tuesday: Another round of showers and thunderstorms are possible for Tuesday as yet another frontal boundary pushes through. In addition, we may have to keep an eye on the potential for some of the storms to be on the strong to severe side as plenty of moisture and low-level wind shear may make for a favorable environment for strong to severe storms. Something to keep an eye on for now. High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees.
