For This Afternoon: High pressure will provide lots of sunshine throughout this afternoon, along with another afternoon of warm temperatures.
Temperatures will be between 80 and 85 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Tonight: Clear to partly cloudy skies can be expected throughout tonight as that high pressure system remains in control of the weather. Low temperatures will be between 55 and 60 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Tuesday: Skies will start out partly sunny during the morning, however, there may be some patchy areas of fog during the early morning hours. Skies will then become cloudy during the afternoon as a strong cold front begins its approach to our area from the west.
High temperatures will be between 75 and 80 Degrees. Winds will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 30 mph.
Tuesday Night & Wednesday: A strong cold front is expected to slowly push through the area during late Tuesday night and Wednesday. As I’ve mentioned in previous forecasts, this front will bring with it some very much needed rainfall to all of Western and Central Mass.
Widespread showers will overspread the entire area during the pre-dawn hours of Wednesday morning. These widespread showers are then expected to continue through all of Wednesday morning before it gradually ends from west to east during early Wednesday afternoon. The shower activity should be done across Western Mass by around midday and across Central Mass around 1-2 pm or so. Some of the showers during Wednesday morning will be heavy in intensity.
Rainfall totals from late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning look to average between one half of an inch (0.50”) and one inch (1.00”). Definitely a very much needed soaking of rain looks likely.
Low temperatures Tuesday night will be near 55 Degrees. High temperatures Wednesday will be between 60 and 65 Degrees.
Winds on Tuesday night will be Southwest at 10 to 20 mph. Winds on Wednesday will be West to Northwest at 10 to 20 mph.
Wednesday Night: A strong high pressure system is expected to build into the region beginning on Wednesday night.
Clear skies can be expected throughout Wednesday night with low temperatures between 35 and 40 Degrees.
Thursday Through Friday: That high pressure system will be in full control of the weather throughout Thursday and Friday bringing with it some much cooler temperatures.
Thursday looks sunny with high temperatures between 55 and 60 Degrees.
Scattered frost and even isolated freezes could be a threat on Thursday night as clear skies will help to drop temperatures into the 30 to 35 Degree range. In fact, some of the normally colder spots may drop into the upper 20s on Thursday night.
Friday looks sunny with high temperatures near 60 Degrees.
This Weekend: While the start of this weekend looks very nice, the weather may get a lot more interesting during the last parts of this upcoming holiday weekend. The reason why is due to the expectation of a coastal storm system that looks to form near the southeastern coast of the United States on Friday night and Saturday. There is the possibility that this storm system could move due northward along the East Coast possibly reaching the Mid-Atlantic coastline by Sunday and may be near the south coast of New England by next Monday. If we do see this type of storm track, it could mean rain and gusty winds could affect the entire area starting during the day on Sunday and continuing right through next Monday.
I want to emphasize that this is not a certainty by any stretch & it’s just as possible that the big high pressure system over New England could shield our area from any rain. More and more though, it is looking increasingly more possible that a coastal storm will affect our weather with rain & gusty winds from Sunday through Monday.
So, for now, the weekend weather forecast looks like this:
Saturday looks sunny with high temperatures near 65 Degrees.
Sunday is now looking cloudy with rain moving in during the afternoon. High temperatures will be near 60 Degrees.
Rain is looking increasingly more possible throughout Sunday night and all of next Monday. In addition, it may be windy with easterly winds of 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts possible. Low temperatures Sunday night will be near 50 Degrees. High temperatures next Monday will be near 60 Degrees.
